In my time at BMC I worked on a data transfer product, was moved to a software developer on a storage management project. This I can say was best part of my career as a programmer. As a group we had a job to do and everyone was involved. I was given lead way to became involved in projects which were extremely rewarding at all levels.

Long work days because the company is run like a start up. Very limited resources causes the wearing of many hats. This in to a place "grace" is given. You must improve your own skills on your own or get pushed out. Management has a strong skill set of management. Leadership is lacking. Hardest part of job is supporting products with little testing and limited industry demand.

Almost all work is virtual. The only interaction is by phone and when assigned to customers. An occasional Skype meeting with the "Team" tied us together. We appreciate you sharing your experience with us.

Pros great work life balance. Cons long waits for advancement opportunities. BMC is a compnay with various products that are focussed on Data Cetner management. The company is primarily divided into Business Units that have product families focussed on a particular segment of Data center management.

I belong to the Service Management BU and our products are considered leaders in that space. As a result, its growth has been limited over the past several years.

Huge amazing campus with every amenity imaginable, including gyms, cafeterias, and spas. Great pay, great coworkers, time flexibility, work from home options, training, education, team-building events, it's just a perfect job. There's a lot of role division, red tape, and careful change management, which is good, but slow if you're used to being in control of all aspects of technology for a company, but management is understanding and supportive.
