Everyone picked out a recipe from the book and made it and brought it, and we had tons of food, and people dressed up and it was super-fun. We also made mulled wine. So, it was just really chaotic, but it was still a lot of fun.

After that, we learned a lot, and every year improved — and got bigger and bigger. I think the next year we had like 20 to 24 people in there. I would pretty much clear out all my furniture in the living room, and we had a connected dining room and living room situation, so we would set up folding tables into one big, long table. It was literally like a feast, and we would decorate everything in a medieval style and play medieval music — a lot of our friends are musicians, and some of them have medieval instruments like lutes and flutes.

They would learn songs and put on little shows, and that just kind of grew year after year. My husband and I ended up buying a house and moving to Idyllwild back in And we had always hosted at our apartment in L.

Having Friendsgiving at our new house kind of gave everybody a chance to come visit us up on the mountain. So, we rented out Hicksville Pines, which is a little themed hotel up there. And everybody got rooms, and we used the big lodge to feed everybody and have the feast. Some people have been to every single Feast of Ice and Fire over the past 10 years. And I always love to hear how much everybody loves it — the pictures that they take, and the memories that they make.
